Cleome isomeris

Cleome isomeris, formerly Isomeris arborea, is commonly called Bladderpod. It is is the caper (legume) family, has an awful smell (smells like bad deck varnish) but is one of the prettiest and toughest natives around. The lacy green foliage has stems that are purpleish while the flowers are bright yellow, making a complementary color explosion! This shrub never stops flowering. Just make sure it has adequate drainage, full sun, and maybe you might plant a sage or something next to it so the smell is better.
