Amorpha californica, or California False Indigo Bush, is a perennial shrub that goes semi-dormant in the winter, then produces green fern-like leaves and a huge sticky purple flower with yellow pistils..it is a larval food for the California state butterfly, the California Dogface butterfly. It likes part to full shade, and gets to be up to 6-8' tall.
